Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KOs) is coming off of his first loss as a professional, a DQ against Andre Dirrell. Abraham clocked the Michigan-native as Dirrell’s knee was down from a slip. The shot knocked Dirrell loopy, so much so that Dirrell believed he had lost the bout. Now with a villianous role, “King” Arthur is trying to take the throne at 168 pounds, just as he did as a middleweight. Abraham is a fearsome puncher with an uncanny ability to take punishment. He had his jaw broken early in a fight against Edison Miranda but managed to fight through it and win a decision against the powerful Miranda. Abraham has already advanced to the knockout stage of the Super Six but that won’t change his approach to the fight.
Like Arthur Abraham, Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KOs) also suffered his first professional loss in his last fight. Froch’s loss came via unanimous decision to Mikkel Kessler. The key to this bout just may come down to which man rebounds better from his first loss. Froch is a big puncher with a solid chin. Those are two big reasons why many believe this fight could turn out to be the Fight of the Year. Froch even has a flair for the dramatic. In his last bout prior to joining the Super Six, Froch embarked on a 12th round rally to knockout Jermain Taylor with only seconds left in the bout. Froch may need to summon up all the resiliency he has to defeat Abraham and improve his standing heading into the knockout stage of the Super Six.

Abraham, 30, is 30-1 (25 KOs). He was IBF Middleweight Champion for over four years, making 11 title defenses. The beginning of this tourney signaled his entrance into the competitive waters of super middleweight. Some of his better moments in the ring were his gutsy decision over Edison Miranda—where Abraham soldiered through a broken jaw to retain his title, and the dominant rematch knockout over Miranda. The win over Taylor, though perhaps over a spent force, was nonetheless impressive.
Froch, 32, is 26-1 (20 KOs). He beat the very good Jean Pascal for the vacant title in 2008. Prior to this tournament, he also stopped Jermain Taylor in the final round of their 2009 fight. This fight seems to be under-celebrated, being that it is a comeback story that belongs in the annals with Mike Weaver vs. John Tate and Jake LaMotta vs. Laurent Dauthille. Down by 4 points on two cards, Froch hammered Taylor into defeat with only 14 seconds remaining in the fight. Both of Froch’s tournament fights have been painfully close.

This will be Berto’s 5th defense of his World Boxing Council title and a continuation of his practice of being matched against obscure and soft opponents. To be sure, Hernandez, 31, has an impressive looking record at first glance, but none of his wins have come against great fighters and he’s probably lucky to be ranked at #10 by the WBC.

Andre Berto and Freddy Hernandez is on for November 27, with HBO airing the bout as part of a triple-header from Las Vegas. It is not a very good fight for Berto, all things being fair and honest, because Hernandez is just not a top-level opponent. But as we've discussed plenty, Berto really has no good possible fight out there at the moment, and he needs to get back into the ring. As far as fringe contenders and second or third-tier guys go, Freddy Hernandez is no worse (or better) than a great number of welterweights. He's tall and has a punch, but the difference in speed and skill will be evident very early, I suspect.

Fans were hoping to see Berto in against quality fighters like Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr., but what they’ve gotten instead is Berto taking on fighters like light welterweight Steve Forbes, light welterweight Juan Urango, Carlos Quintana, and Luis Callazo. Hernandez is more or less a continuation of these types of opponents for Berto.
HBO has shown all of Berto’s fights, betting that he will be the next welterweight star. Indeed, HBO has rammed Berto down the throat of boxing fans and the network seems to be slow in recognizing that Berto isn’t well liked. He’s been slow in building a fan base despite having his fights regularly aired by HBO. A combination of Berto’s mediocre opposition and his dull fighting style, which includes a great deal of hitting and immediately clinching, has made him painful to watch. Recently, Berto had the chance to fight Shane Mosley, but that fight was wiped out when Berto had to cancel the fight due to the Haiti earthquake which affected family members of Berto.

He is one of the great counter-punchers in the game today, arguably the best active fighter from Mexico, and the one-time arch-rival of Manny Pacquiao. Marquez is also the kingpin at lightweight. His recent loss to a much bigger Floyd Mayweather was certainly no disgrace, and while Marquez shows signs of slowing down, he shows no signs of actually "becoming old." His combination of skills, ring savvy and hitting power represent a truly formidable combination for any boxer in the 130, 135 or 140 lbs. divisions.
Marquez vs. Katsidis Prediction & Analysis
In July, Marquez showed everyone that age hasn't diminished his prowess by winning a rematch over Juan Diaz, and improving on his performance in the process. "Dinamita" busted up "Baby Bull" on his way to a huge points win, and "Baby Bull" was the guy who out-macho'ed Katsidis in 2008. Although Katsidis has heavier hands than Diaz (who is a swarmer rather than a puncher), Marquez is a heavy favorite in this encounter.
Michael Katsidis is a warrior and has some grit, and it is easy to imagine his assault scoring points and bagging a few rounds early in the fight. However, he has showed us nothing new in his comeback, with the two noted wins being over a tough-yet-shopworn Chavez and an undefeated-but-untested Mitchell. A man who can defuse the assault of Manny Pacquiao will certainly be able to blunt the attack of Katsidis. Once Marquez figures the Australian out, he will turn the tables on him, take control of the fight, and put the man down.

Matthew 'Magic' Hatton makes his second defence of the
European welterweight title against undefeated Swiss challenger
Roberto Belge as the Manchester fighter continues to step out of his brother Ricky's shadow.
The elder Hatton has now all but retired as Matthew continues to make his own mark on the sport, and looks set for a shot at a credible world title – if he can overcome Belge at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton on Friday.
The 29-year-old is on an eight-fight unbeaten run and an impressive display against the Swiss boxer would be the perfect way to get the attention of WBA champion, and long-time target,
Viacheslav Senchenko.However, Hatton cannot be complacent as he has already suffered four defeats in his career so far, and a fifth will almost certainly spell the end of any hopes of emulating his brother.
After a shaky first round in his previous defence against
Yuriy Nuzhnenko, which saw the Hatton on the canvas in the first round, the 29-year-old will be hoping for a better start against Belge.
The 31-year-old Swiss boxer comes into this fight with only a small blemish of a draw in his most recent of 26 fights, but has never fought a household name – leaving Hatton as strong favourite.
On the outset this looks like a routine defence but Hatton will still have to be wary of the challenger as he looks to keep his world title bid on track and maintain the family name on the boxing map.

Manchester's ''Magic'' Matthew Hatton, younger sibling of the illustrious three time world champion Ricky, makes the second defence of his European welterweight title when he takes on undefeated Roberto ''Ruby'' Belge from Switzerland at Bolton's Reebok Stadium on Friday night. The fight will be featured live on Sky Sports 1, and live action starts at 10 pm.
Hatton, a pro since 2000, is currently on an eight bout winning streak, and has lost just twice in the last seven-and-a-half years; a 10th round disqualification defeat to Alan Bosworth in a 2006 British light welterweight title eliminator, and a listless performance in a Commonwealth welterweight title fight with Craig Watson in 2008 his only setbacks.
During that time he has posted 26 wins and two draws, including big victories over quality fighters like Ben Tackie and Ted Bami, and a draw with former IBF light welterweight title holder Lovemore N'dou.

Toshiba also emphasised the importance of the massive TV coverage of an event that is contested by the top 60 players on The European Tour with a prize fund of US$7.5 million and a Bonus Pool for the final top 15 on The Race to Dubai of a further US$7.5 million.
